Young people aged 17 to 25 in the labour market: new study results available

Released: June 11, 2026

At 17, nearly 70% of young people born in Québec in 1997-1998 had already entered the labour market and reported employment income as employees or self-employed workers. At 25, among those who were employed in the month preceding the study, about 6 in 10 (61%) rated their level of well-being as high in their main job.

These results come from two analyses based on the Québec Longitudinal Study of Child Development. Some data from Revenu Québec were also used.
